How to FTP files to us
FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol and is essentially a way of transferring files from one computer to another by means of the internet.

To connect to the MPG FTP site you will need three pieces of information:

Host IP Address: 62.173.65.135
Username: (allocated by MPG Books)
Password: (allocated by MPG Books)

If you are using the FTP server for the first time please contact your CSR who will arrange for a dedicated folder to be set up, and for your username and password to access the FTP server.

It is not possible to FTP through a web browser to the MPG Books FTP server.

To send your files you will need to obtain a FTP client. For the Macintosh we recommend 'Fetch' or 'Transmit'. Windows ME, 2000 and XP support native FTP through the 'network places', or a FTP client can also be used. Alternatively you can download and use our online preflight client which has FTP file transfer built in.

Naming and placing of files
Place all the files for your publication in a named folder before placing onto the FTP site, do not upload loose files into your directory, if you are sending more than one job this may cause confusion and delay processing of your job.

Please note that when naming files the following characters should not be used:
\ / ; : | = , + * ? < >

Do not place files on the server that are not intended for MPG Books use.

Should a file need to be re-sent for any reason please ensure that it is easily identifiable and let your Customer Service Representative know of the change.
